We’ve been around a long time. About the time teeth whitening first took off in Australasia and only dentists were doing it. We saw a lot of pain and sensitivity due to the high-strength hydrogen peroxide being used in the whitening gels, and made it our mission to find a pain-free, safer, and more affordable option.
There was also a demanding market for only registered and certified teeth whitening practitioners to provide the service, as people were rightly wary. This would require training, registration, certification, and the best equipment, to offer this exciting new service while also keeping customer safety, comfort, and affordability in mind.
We decided to put the two together and create a business opportunity for everyday people, that would enable them to build a business providing a safe and assured teeth whitening service to the public.
No mean feat, but luckily, we had something different. A dedicated founder and a partnership with dentists and dental professionals worldwide, to source the safest and most effective products, and create the most in-depth, comprehensive training.

Sarah White, the CEO, has a background in business and marketing, and is on the board of the regulatory body in New Zealand; New Zealand Cosmetic Teeth Whitening Association (NZCTWA). Sarah is dedicated to bringing her experience and knowledge to TWA.
Beyond International in the USA is a global manufacturer of quality aesthetic dental products and provides all our ultrasonic teeth whitening machines, whitening gels, and products that are both super safe and effective.
NZCTWA is New Zealand’s Ministry of Health-recognised governing body of teeth whitening practitioners, and provides the registration and certification to ensure all members are properly trained and certified to practice teeth whitening.

The history of teeth whitening
The quest for whiter, brighter teeth is not new.
If you lived in ancient Egypt 4000 years ago, you’d have been able to grind up pumice stone and mix it with white vinegar to make a whitening paste.
Fast forward 2000 years to Rome. There, you could brush your teeth with…urine! It worked – urine contains ammonia; and in fact, ammonia can still be found in some teeth cleaning products today (luckily, in refined measures so you can’t actually taste it).
In forward-thinking Europe in the 17th century, you could just pop to your local barber shop, and request a short back and sides and a new smile. It wasn’t all background music, cup of tea, and FB doom-scrolling though. The process of getting white teeth involved first grinding down the teeth then adding an acid to bleach them. It would have been painful and led to decay, but anything for a sparkling white smile…
In the early 1800s, it was discovered that fluoride could actually keep teeth clean, healthy, and whiter. After a few false starts when it was discovered that too much fluoride actually does more harm, fluoride started being routinely added to teeth products.
Of course, there’s also been other trends and practices popping up, such as using bicarb of soda with water to make a paste and brush your teeth. None of which had consistent results until most recently, when teeth whitening was done by dentists, using gel containing a high hydrogen peroxide percentage, designed to be applied to the teeth for prolonged periods of time. This would get results, but came with some nasty side effects, such as pain and sensitivity.
